Karma

1 minute read

Karma.

Something that many hear about but perhaps don’t know enough about.

Put simply it the good you do will come back to you.

The harm and negative things you do, will also come back to you.

Karma is divided into 3 segments and these are further divided into further segments:

  • Body
  • Speech
  • Mind

Body is divided into 3 segments

  • Sexual Misconduct
  • Stealing
  • Killing

Speech is divided into 4 segments

  • Lying
  • Idle Gossip
  • Slander
  • Harsh Speech

Mind is divided into 3 segments

  • Greed
  • Anger
  • Delusion

To create good karma you can simply practice avoding these unwholesome things which lead to bad karma.

You can also practice

  • Generosity
  • Good conduct
  • Reading and learning about spirituality
  • Teaching spirituality

To improve your karma.

Things that affect the weight of karma is:

  • Doing good acts to all those who have helped you in your life, for example donating to causes that have helped you in your life.

  • Doing good acts to those who possess extrodinary qualities or helping spiritual teachers in some way, this could be helping a spiritual guru by providing them with some food, donating what money you can to spiritual teachers or just any help towards a spiritual teacher greately improves ones karma.

  • Repeated action, such as constantly giving what you can afford to noble charities in the world.

  • Action done with great intention and determination.

  • Action done without regret, doing good acts and not feeling guilty or thinking that it was wrong in some way.

  • For me I have found labelling them when they appear in my daily life to be very useful, this has also helped me with the five hindrances.
