Update on Learning French 2023.05.14

1 minute read

I am currently on Pimsleur Lesson 22. I’m finding that its getting progressively harder with each passing lesson.

I have also received the Assimil French course [1] last Wednesday and am aiming for 2 lessons a day on this. I am currently on lesson 9 of this course.

I am also using “Teach Yourself Complete French” by Gaelle Graham [2] and these lessons are a lot longer than the Assimil course so I’m aiming for 1 unit a day.

I am also close to finishing the book “French Short Stories for Beginners: 20 Captivating Short Stories to Learn French & Grow Your Vocabulary the Fun Way!” and am about 5 chapters from finishing this book.

Lastly I have also done one chapter of “The Complete French Vocabulary Course: Learn 5000 words in context – Including around 200 exercises, audios and video lessons” [4]

These resources I’ve mentioned here should last me for the month and it takes some time out of my day going through all these resources each day especially as how I work a 9-5 and sqeezing in time for French in the evening can be a struggle.

But I plan to remain devoted to the journey of learning French and I am aiming for a B2 by the end of the year and plan on updating each week on a Sunday my progress in learning French. For now the resources I’ve mentioned should keep me occupied for a while yet.
